Les jardins du Breil, Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine, France Sponsorship : Patrick Blot, director of the organization EPI (Entreprise Pour l’Insertion), Claire Hélies, site manager of Les jardins du Breil, Gwénaëlle André, social worker of EPI, Sylvain Porteu, gardener, Frédéric Puichaud, gardener, Dominique David, gardener. The organization EPI (Entreprise Pour l’Insertion), created in June 1992, allows people with social problems to find a job and build a personal project. One of the professional activity proposed within this structure is a back-to-work workshop through the production of organic vegetables. Convinced that Art can contribute to professional reintegration for people in difficulty, the sponsors want to introduce an artistic dimension inside this specific location of Les jardins du Breil. They want to create place for conviviality, sociability and rest where all the gardeners could meet, during summer and winter. The gardeners who would like to could get involved into to implementation of the project. In consonance with the image of a cocoon, working as a shelter for rainy or too hot days, this place must be cosy, reassuring and it has to respect the environment. Nicolas Floc'h started with simple elements, pushing away the idea of a too demonstrative object or place, which would be out of touch with the site. "La patate", common name for "potato" in french, is laid on the field. In this context, she looks like a natural object but she's off the scale (9 meters long, 4 meters large and 3,80 meters high). http://www.eternalnetwork.fr/projets/article/la-patate-chaude
